Notes:
[Manning.FTW]
Born 1888 at 51 Cornwall Road, Brixton, Lambeth, London. (Lambeth Sep 1888, 1d 483) She died on 6th June 1945 at Wallasey. On the 1901 Census she is living with her mother and her brother Sydney at 14 Comely Bank Road, Liscard, Wallasey. Her surname is wrongly transcribed as Aldon but the original Census return shows the correct spelling. In 1913 she married Alexander McDonald (Birkenhead Dec 1913, 8a 973)( at sometime between the birth of Sydney in 1891 and the end of 1895 Sarah left her husband Charles taking her two youngest children with her. Somehow she arrived in Liverpool where she passed herself off as a widow and in January 1896 she married Myerhouse Dixon the Captain of a Ferry on the Mersey. (Copy of marriage certificate held) Neither my grandmother nor my mother appear to have had any knowledge of the family in Lambeth and accepted the story that she was a widow with two children. However the 1901 Census clearly shows Charles still alive at 51 Cornwall Road. This means the second marriage must have been bigamous. This is a mystery that I still have to solve.) Birth, marriage and death certificates held.
